Intramammary Sealants

Selantes Intramamários

The use of intramammary sealants based on bismuth subnitrate is a well-established practice in dairy cattle farming, aimed at preventing mastitis, especially during the dry period. Unlike antibiotics, bismuth acts as a physical and inert barrier, simulating the natural keratin plug that forms in the teat canal.

This culturally used practice is functionally efficient; it reduces somatic cell count and the incidence of clinical mastitis at the beginning of lactation, but we need to issue an important warning about it.

Bismuth is not biodegradable and needs to be eliminated along with the colostrum. This can take up to 3 milkings to be completely eliminated, increasing the producer's costs. This plug acts similarly to a cork in the canal, needing to be expelled at the correct time.

Another very important factor is that it PREVENTS the formation of the natural plug, consequently there may be no release of defense proteins, and it can also clog the milking machine. Furthermore, it often injures the cow's udder when it comes out, sometimes requiring subsequent medication, which again can increase production costs.

Directly from the Foundation in Argentina, Farex do Brasil brings CETAP to the producer. CETAP is a physiological facilitator of plug formation, promoting milk coagulation and reabsorption, stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid by the skin, allowing for rapid epithelial recovery, and improving defense against bacteria, as hyaluronic acid induces the release of proteins that fight bacteria.

CETAP has an innovative formula and is BIOCOMPATIBLE, naturally inducing the production of the keratin plug up to twice as fast as the body produces it, accelerating the PHYSIOLOGICAL closure of the mammary gland, not a physical closure.

Its main component is naturally present in the body, is harmless to the calf, safe for the milk, and does not require colostrum disposal ? it comes out in the first jets because it is the natural plug.
